"WHAT IF I CAN'T SING?" - - WHY SING OUT! ?

The goal of Sing Out! is to create a community choir of diverse participants to sing the songs that inspired Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Singing in the traditional Black gospel style requires no musical experience. Pat Wright teaches us the oral tradition - no song books, no music to read. You sing from your heart, not from your head!

Wright is one of the world's best teachers of this style of singing! She has taught on four continents and throughout the region since 1973. She teaches three and four part harmonies to easy ranges of the human voice. Members of her Choir and those who've sung in previous years assist participants in hearing their parts.

Wright, once a stand up comic, teaches with humor, love, compassion and a strong sense of history. Teachers and students especially are enriched by singing with her.

Ages 10 and up - all ages - are welcome. Workshop attendees are requested to sing in the evening concert.

Whether an MLK Jr. Choir singer, or an audience member, all are invited to the community soul food dinner which in previous years was limited to workshop singers. The dinner has grown to include its own musical offerings and dinner hour programing.

All proceeds benefit Helpline House www.helplinehouse.org.
